Patrice Bance - Guitar
Born in Haiti, guitarist Patrice Bance moved to Montreal in 1969. Patrice began playing guitar at the age of 12. “I liked the feel of the guitar and I got hooked on it,” he recalls, “but I didn’t really get serious about it until I went to Music College in Montreal.”
Patrice began working at clubs and festivals in Montreal( 3 times at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal), Toronto, Quebec City, Ottawa and Kingston with musicians Yanick Rieu, Andre Leroux, and Daniel Bonin. Patrice’s synthesis of a wide range of genres was honed over more than two decades of exploring and performing jazz standards, Latin, funk and blues music. While living on the West Coast, he developed a growing interest for the mandolin. Patrice was busy playing, phrasing and pushing frontiers from bluegrass to Gypsy music on the mandolin.
Now Patrice is creating and playing original music with a sense of adventure and a commitment to musical exploration with Shadoplay.
